Karl Strauss Peanut Butter Cup Porter

5.6% ABV • 56 SRM • 30 IBU

Karl Straus Pintail Pale Alw

Karl Strauss and San Diego go together like peanut butter and chocolate. That’s why we chose San Diego Beer Week back in 2012 as the perfect place to debut our Peanut Butter Cup Porter. This decadent twist on a robust porter packs rich layers of smooth peanut butter and dark chocolate flavors. The lingering, slightly dry finish is sure to keep you going back for the next sip. Today, it turns out you really can have your dessert… and drink it too.

Special SDBC Sunday Ride 11/9
SDBCCicloSDias

A visit with Juan Carlos Vinolo at Sharp Rehab followed by a ride through CicloSDias Hillcrest/Bankers Hill

35 miles complete, leaves UC Cyclery at 8:30, led by SDBC ride leaders, regrouping as needed. We will visit Juan Carlos & take group photo with him in pleasant courtyard setting (feel de love & de gratitude, mon), then on to CicloSDias (SD's 3rd Annual, hosted by SD County Bicycle Coalition), to show our support for cycling in San Diego, and then back to UCC via Reynard Way/Goldfinch St/Presidio Dr. Only one hill: Texas St (you can do it!)

No hills to speak of on the first leg to Sharp Rehab but we are aiming to be there by 9:30, so we’ll need to set an approximate 16 mph pace. We will be hooking up with challenged athlete hand-cyclists on the way, and it needs to be said that when Juan Carlos is again able to ride, he, too, will become a hand-cyclist athlete.

Bring two bottles of fluid and be ready to roll at 8:30. #TeamJuanCarlos ribbons will be issued before we leave. Please wear them or put them on your bike to show support for Juan Carlos as he nears his release date to go home!

RSVP link https://www.facebook.com/events/408806095937307/

The group photo will be emailed to you afterwards with ride write-up.

Please come out and show your support!

Borrego Springs/Palm Canyon Ride and Campout

Well, the calls, texts and emails started about noon on Friday, "The weather does not look so good, I'm going to cancel." But on Saturday morning 12 riders were at the start, ready for the 75 mile trek to Borrego Palm Canyon campground. The sag drivers were there to haul the camping gear. It was great to see some new faces as well as the regulars. Riders headed off on the still wet but managed to miss the rain throughout the day. One optimistic rider, in her white summer kit arrived at camp clean! Cool and tailwinds and no rain made for a great day of riding. (OK, a couple sprinkles and a pesky headwind the last couple into camp, but a beautiful day of riding overall.) By dinner time, a few more old timers showed up.

Sunday dawned sunny and calm and the riders were off for the 14 mile climb up Montezuma Valley Road, and on to Mira Mesa. Now another Borrego ride is just a fond memory. 15 riders in all, some rode one day and some rode both. The sag drivers enjoyed 2 days of riding in the valley.

A big THANK YOU to the sag drivers and to all the riders for another fantastic event.

See you all next year.

Build Speed & Endurance
In the Off-Season

Get stronger and faster with the Off-Season C-ride. The C-ride started two years ago when a group of WTC riders wanted to keep building on their WTC experience. Now, the C-ride is picking up the baton every Saturday now through December, rolling out around the same time as the B-ride (whoever talks less, rolls first). The C-ride is being led by Didier Sagan and Xavier Cany and a team of experienced C-riders and assorted ride leaders. Here’s what Xavier says to expect:

For the first two months we are going to go easy and help riders build up speed and endurance. As long as people feel comfortable with a 55 miles climbing ride any regular A, B and D-1 rider should be able to join the fun. We'll keep the group together on the flats and have the fastest riders loop or wait for the slow riders whenever necessary on the climbs. It promises to be a lot of fun!

So join Xavier, Didier, and the team for the fast, group training Off-Season C-ride!
