A Note From The Bike Coalition Liaison |
- If you're ever nervous in traffic (and who isn't?) you can almost certainly benefit from taking a step back and thinking about traffic cycling dynamics and safety. The CyclingSavvy program is the best and my friends there now offer FREE membership which includes access to their Essentials course. Please, check out their totally revamped website, and let me know what you think!
http://www.cyclingsavvy.org
- Coalition Board of directors elections are coming. All Coalition members can vote, which means all SDBC members can vote. Watch your email Inbox for the electronic ballot.
- This is the first serious article I've ever seen about my favorite cycling topic - the legality and safety of bicyclists using the full lane - in any prominent general media. Forbes! Please read.

November 17, 2018
Padres Pedal the Cause is a local nonprofit that seeks to fund cancer research that will lead to increased survivorship and ultimately, cures for cancer. Their biggest fundraising effort is an annual cycling event at Petco Park – and we are happy to announce that SDBC has created a team this event.
How can you participate:
There is Cycling (4 routes – including 25, 55, 88 and 100 miles, all going over the Coronado Bridge and finishing on Centerfield.), 5K walk/run, Kids Challenge (closed bike loop) or Stationary Bike – all events end on the field at Petco Park with free food & beverage. There are also volunteer opportunities.
Click here for all participation options, which also includes registration and fundraising info at the bottom.
The beneficiaries:
Every dollar participants raise goes directly to the following beneficiaries: Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health, the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute and Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego.
