Do you shop at Amazon.com? If so, it' easy for you to help SDBC receive donations from Amazon to SDBC. Just use the “Amazon Smile” charitable process in your account. Amazon Smile funnels a small percentage of their eligible purchase revenue to SDBC if you activate Amazon Smile in your account and choose “San Diego Bicycle Club” as the beneficiary nonprofit.
Instead of logging in through "amazon.com" you log-in through “smile.amazon.com.” Very easy to use. It is EXACTLY the same shopping experience. Nothing changes except SDBC receives contributions from Amazon. |

- Tire dusting
- Riding a thrown chain back on
- Effectively training with a heart rate monitor
- Hill interval training
- Isolated-leg exercises
- Properly equipping your bike for flats and roadside repairs
- Dressing for varying temperatures
- Rules of the road
- Steering/cornering/braking
- Effective use of gears
- And other topics brought up by the attendees.
Not all skills will be taught each month. In case of rain, the clinic will be conducted the following week.

2019 Barrio Logan Grand Prix |
|
2019 Barrio Logan
Saturday, April 27 |
|
The annual Barrio Logan Grand Prix was last Saturday, April 27th.
Thank you to everyone who helped at out in one way or another with BLGP and with the Kids' Bicycle Rodeo.
Currently BLGP is the only criterium race left in San Diego County. It's a lot of work to plan and make happen, but worth it as part of the club's mission to promote amateur bicycle racing in San Diego.
Many photos from Richard Lee and others are availble on the SDBC Facebook page - make sure to view the albums page for many more.
Willie Sakai of Jade Coast Photograhy also has a gallery of photos.
Until next year keep the rubber side down and the helmet side up! |

A Note From The Bike Coalition Liaison |
I posted this video for the last few weeks demonstrating and explaining the steer from the rear technique. Please watch it if you haven't already:
https://vimeo.com/275420894/608bf51a3c
Next, a Frank Lehnerz's rear view video of D1 rider Vishu Nandigam executing steer from the rear recently at the back of one of the paceline groups on San Dieguito when approaching the end. As Vishu rotates to the rear position he takes a quick glance back, then after rotating to the left line a moment later takes a longer and more thorough look. Having verified it’s clear he signals assertively, moves out further left and yells clear! Since Frank is in the next position up we can’t see the rest of the group, but we can hear the clear echoes. Great job, Vishu! And thanks for the video, Frank!
https://youtu.be/jn8Ex584-h8
If you're still with me, here's video proof that groups of cyclists aren't the only ones who steer from the rear. This is not only amusing, it's also demonstrates the practical advantage of this technique is the same for a long vehicle as it is for a group:
