Do you shop at Amazon.com? If so, it' easy for you to help SDBC receive donations from Amazon to SDBC. Just use the “Amazon Smile” charitable process in your account. Amazon Smile funnels a small percentage of their eligible purchase revenue to SDBC if you activate Amazon Smile in your account and choose “San Diego Bicycle Club” as the beneficiary nonprofit.
Instead of logging in through "amazon.com" you log-in through “smile.amazon.com.” Very easy to use. It is EXACTLY the same shopping experience. Nothing changes except SDBC receives contributions from Amazon. |

SDBC Named “Volunteer Partner of the Year” by Kroc Center |
|
Over the years, SDBC’s annual Christmas Toy Ride has delivered thousands of toys to the Kroc Center and the Salvation Army. Now, our Club is being honored as the Center’s 2019 Volunteer Partner of the Year.
Congratulations to everyone – SDBC members and non-members alike – who have helped make our toy ride the best around!
The award will be presented to us at the Center’s 17th Birthday Bash Luncheon on Saturday, July 27th from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Ralph Elliott and I will be attending.
There are six more seats available at the SDBC table. If you’d like to join us at no charge, please email me at president@sdbc.org. First come, first served.

USA Cycling's SafeSport Program |
|
A few words about SafeSport |
|
In a nutshell, SafeSport is the sporting community’s initiative to recognize, reduce and respond to misconduct in sport. In February of 2018, congress passed the Protecting Young Victims From Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017, which authorizes the U.S. Center for SafeSport to develop training, oversight, policies and procedures for implementation by national governing bodies (such as USA Cycling) to prevent abuse of any amateur athlete.
SDBC is working with USA Cycling to comply with their federally required training and over the next week we'll be notifying members who need to take the training - board members, ride leaders, coaches, and parents of Junior Team members.
If you want more information on USA Cycling's SafeSport program you can look at it using the link below:

Renee Robinson

New Off-Road Director |
|
Austin Kruisheer Elected Off-Road Director
Join me in congratulating Austin Kruisheer on his election as the Club’s Off-Road Team director (formerly known as the Mountain Bike Team.)
He was elected unanimously by the Board following Andy Gurney’s withdrawal of his nomination in favor of Austin. His term began immediately and ends in December, along with all the other board positions.
Austin takes over a newly expanded program that includes not only mountain bike racing but also gravel, dirt, and cyclocross events.
For more information about racing with the Off-Road Team email Austin at mtb@sdbc.org.

Contact Joe at joe.bernhardt@ocwheelmen.org if you can help out.
OCW will make a donation to SDBC if any of you choose to volunteer. |
