Do you shop at Amazon.com? If so, it's easy for you to help SDBC receive donations from Amazon to SDBC. Just use the
"Amazon Smile” charitable process in your account. Amazon Smile funnels a small percentage of their eligible purchase
revenue to SDBC if you activate Amazon Smile in your account and choose “San Diego Bicycle Club” as the
beneficiary nonprofit. Instead of
logging in through "amazon.com" you log-in through “smile.amazon.com.” Very easy to use. It is EXACTLY the same shopping experience.
Nothing changes except SDBC receives contributions from Amazon. | | Membership Join SDBC or renew your membership online. Visit the

2015 Trek Domane 4.5 - size 56cm (I’m 5’10”)
Perfect do everything bike. I’ve done fondos, races, and some light gravel on it. Has clearance for 35mm front and 32mm rear tires. Did BWR San Diego on it in 2019 and it was perfect. I'm the second owner after the original owner bought it, rode it three times, and determined it was too big.
Full carbon frame, aluminum cockpit, carbon gravel tubeless wheels with Spinergy fiber spokes - super comfortable and stable.
Details:
Ultegra derailers
Compact crank - 50/34 Absolute Black oval chainrings
Ultegra cassette and chain - 32-11
Needs new bar tape, but figured the new owner can put on what they want.
42cm bars, 100mm stem
Loved this bike, just don’t ride it anymore. Always get compliments on the bike when I ride it. Has been ridden only a handful of times in the past year.
$1,199
$1,700.00 for SDBC members and friends!

Celebrating 75! |
They're trying to steal our juniors! The 2021 Juniors Team |
| Thank you so much for the nice comments on last week’s mini-story about the Women’s team and how its grown to 37 racers – a record – through the last 9 years. Now…let’s talk about the Juniors.
Here’s the most important thing you need to know according to Raymond Wang, the Juniors Team Director, We must do everything possible to continue to build up and help these hard working juniors realize their cycling goals.” And from your President, we must keep them in SDBC colors.
It’s incredible! Over the years we have had so many hard-working leaders of the Jrs Team; it’s impossible to give a full history in this limited space, with this writer's limited knowledge.
I recall Linda & Tom Webb and their daughter Anna, who became a national cycling champion. And Charlie Sykes and his son, Edward, who was a champion racer, and now flies F-17’s for the Air Force. And SDBC Life Member Brian Comer, and his wife Jean, and the Comer clan of kids. And starting in 2016, Raymond Wang with his racing kids Natalie and Aaron, along with Jonathan Camanyag with his daughter Noelle. In 2017 Raymond became solely responsible for the team and it has continued to flourish!
And we can never forget Coach Dave Grylls, an Olympic cycling medalist, who coached our Juniors for many years. He said it best, we’re not training kids to be great cyclists but compassionate human beings and amazing citizens. If you missed the January 2020 Banquet of Champions you missed Coach Grylls at his best.
In 2020 we had 19 junior racers – an all-time high. One aged out, so right now in 2021 we have 18…and they are stupendous!!!
Raymond has assembled a great team of talent headlined by the Juniors women: seven highly skilled 13-14 year olds PLUS and two incredible 15-16 year olds. In 2022 they will ALL be in the 15-16 category. Nationally, this group of Junior women will be the strongest in the United States in Team Pursuit and Madison competition according to Raymond. He calls it,”an alignment of the stars!"
True? Must be. Los Angeles “interests” tried to steal some of these racers from us in the last several months. Leadership by Raymond and a strong response by SDBC has kept all – ALL – of them in SDBC red & black for 2021. What about 2022?
I want to thank all of you who have made financial contributions to the Juniors team over the year, and to all you who have supported this Club with your dollars. We need you now more than ever; the wolf is at the door.
Running this great 501(c)(3) charitable organization is not a race; there is never a finish line. Every year our racing teams build on the past, and so does our team of volunteer leaders. And now they’re trying to steal our Juniors!
Folks please believe me when I say we need you now more than ever. We’re a riding club that isn’t riding, and a racing club that isn’t racing. It’d be all to easy to lose momentum and our Juniors. Please don’t let that happen. Raymond is correct when he says. “We must do everything possible to continue to build up and help these hard working juniors realize their cycling goals.”
There are four things you can do now right now:
RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP
Many clubs are seeing a drop in renewals. Not SDBC. Our renewal rate went up in 2020. Yes, our overall membership has dropped but that’s because we count on our Saturday rides to attract new members. And we had no Saturday rides for 9+ months last year. Your renewal now is more important than ever!
2021 CLUB KIT
We’re our own Title sponsor in 2021, which means we have the center spot on our jersey. Buy it and wear it proudly.
|
DONATE
Of course, Title sponsors pay $15,000 for the privilege, and that’s what we’re raising. Your donation at of any amount is truly appreciated and helps us reach our $15,000 goal.
JOIN THE PRESIDENT'S CLUB
SDBC President Mike McLaughlin invites you to join him in “The President’s Club” by making a donation of $1,000 or more. The Club is limited to 10 people and businesses, all helping raise $10,000 towards the Title Sponsorship.
|
Wait 'til you hear about our other 2021 teams! You'll understand why I believe...
That with your help, 2021 will be the best year ever!
75 will be our best year ever. LET’S ROLL!

| The State of California has lifted its stay-at-home order. The County of San Diego is still in the "Purple Zone" and the health order dated 1/25/21 reflects that. Gatherings are still prohibited. Vaccines are being administered and trends are looking better, but it will take some time before the pandemic is over. To stay safe and remain in compliance, the SDBC Saturday Rides continue to be suspended. We encourage you to ride solo or with a friend (or two) for your physical and mental health while keeping in mind the County's guidelines.
Please do not gather in large groups at UC Cyclery on Saturday mornings. If you choose to ride with a friend or two from there, please leave the parking area quickly and do not form or join large groups. Let's all stay healthy and safe while we ride this out. Be patient as there are better times ahead! Charlie
