Do you shop at Amazon.com? If so, it's easy for you to help SDBC receive donations from Amazon to SDBC. Just use the
"Amazon Smile” charitable process in your account. Amazon Smile funnels a small percentage of their eligible purchase
revenue to SDBC if you activate Amazon Smile in your account and choose “San Diego Bicycle Club” as the
beneficiary nonprofit. Instead of
logging in through "amazon.com" you log-in through “smile.amazon.com.” Very easy to use. It is EXACTLY the same shopping experience.
Nothing changes except SDBC receives contributions from Amazon. | | Membership Join SDBC or renew your membership online. Visit the

Wanted: Sponsorship Director |
|
We have mighty big shoes to fill. Niven Howlett has been our incredibly successful sponsorship director since July 2018, signing up sponsors for 2019, 2020, & 2021. He didn’t seek reelection this year because of increasing work demands at his job.
In fact, the Club’s financial recovery and stabilization began with Michael Farkas, followed by Michael Yuhas, before Niven. Over the last eight years we’ve been very fortunate to have had three great leaders hold this position.
Are you the fourth?
Maybe. We’re looking for an outgoing person who likes talking to, and working with, people. Knowledge of the Club and its programs are a must along with sense of pride for SDBC and the broader cycling world in San Diego. We have a great story to tell and are looking for someone to tell it.
According to Niven, maybe the most important quality is lots of connections in the cycling community who are also connected to, and influential in, their businesses. Niven says it’s not enough to know a lot of business owners and marketing people. Nor is it enough to know a lot of cyclists. Rather, you need to know business owners and marketing people who are also cyclists, preferably riding with SDBC, or at least having knowledge about SDBC.
If that’s you and you’re interested in learning more, please contact me.
By the way…we do have a support person to oversee & coordinate all sponsor fulfillment, which allows the SD to spend more time working with sponsors. And Niven is still around for support.

Winners of the SDBC February Strava Challenge |
|
In February, 72 cyclists linked to SDBC's Strava group completed the February Grand Fondo Challenge on Strava. From that group, three lucky SDBC members were selected randomly and will receive a gift card for Eppig Brewing. Our winners for January are:
- Anne Kobayashi
- David Milder
- Sofia Schugar
Note: There will not be a Strava Challenge in March. Please consider joining SDBC's efforts in supporting Padres Pedal the Cause.

| The County of San Diego is still in the high risk "Purple Zone" and the health order dated 2/6/21 reflects that. Gatherings of members of more than three households are prohibited. Vaccines are being administered and some trends are looking better, but new variants of the virus are a cause for concern. To stay safe and remain in compliance, the SDBC Saturday Rides continue to be suspended. We encourage you to ride solo or with a friend (or two) for your physical and mental health while keeping in mind the County's guidelines.
Please do not gather in large groups at UC Cyclery on Saturday mornings. If you choose to ride with a friend or two from there, please leave the parking area quickly and do not form or join large groups. Let's all stay healthy and safe while we ride this out. Be patient as there are better times ahead! Charlie

Save $10 on Padres Pedal the Cause |
|
Are you ready to give 100%? Padres Pedal the Cause Bound for Cures.
is a VIRTUAL challenge this year on May 8, 2021 centered around the mission of accelerating cures for cancer. 100% of every dollar raised going directly to local cancer research! For the first time, participants are not required to fundraise and you choose what 100% means to you. SDBC is creating a main team and we'll give away monthly top fundraiser prizes. You can form smaller virtual teams under the SDBC umbrella to create your challenge - ride 100 miles, 100 minutes, repeats of Torrey Pines or whatever you dream up. Use code SDBC to save $10; code expires March 15th.
We have a team page! Click here.
to check it out. If you'd like to volunteer to be the SDBC Captain, you'll help send weekly info out, encourage goal-setting and give out fundraising awards. Email Hilary - murdockh@gmail.com.
Keep riding, enjoy this mild winter - stay healthy and safe so we can look forward to riding together again!
