A Note from the Training Director |
The D-5 Ride Is Back for the Summer!
|
Starting June 7th, this 8-12 mile entry level ride is designed for riders who can stay upright on their bikes. It’s focus is to teach cycling basics while getting new riders comfortable riding on city streets.
Ride leaders are still needed for this ride. If you volunteer you will likely lead only three rides. Patience is the top skill needed, and a desire to help new riders find the joy and love of cycling. Is that you? If it is, please email Training Director Mike McLaughlin at training@sdbc.org.

It's been a couple of years since we had a club photo so we plan to accomplish this on June 7th. Wear the club kit for this year to participate in the photo shoot.
We would like to have as many members as possible in the photo. This is important when reaching out to potential sponsors so mark your calendar and be prepared to bring your brightest smiles. |

They’re almost gone
Here’s whats left: 2 x-small; 2 small; and 3 large. That’s it. And when they’re gone they are gone, and the Club is out of the helmet business.

First come-first served. Pick yours up Saturday morning before the Club rides. Cost is $50 per helmet - regular retail is $160. Payment is by cash, check - payable to SDBC, or credit card. We prefer checks, but however you want to pay is fine.

A Note On Pricing
The clothing committee worked very hard in negotiating prices with Pactimo. Despite almost across-the-board price increases on garments, we're keeping the prices of many popular items the same as last year. In cases where we have raised prices, we have kept the increase as small as possible.

Inaugural Tri-National Benefit Bike Tour
Foundation for the Children of the Californias
Some ride for pleasure.
Some ride for sport.
We ride to change lives.
On behalf of the Foundation for the Children of the Californias (FCC), we cordially invite you to participate in the inaugural Tri-National Benefit Bike Tour to be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014.
Our goal is to raise funds to purchase ophthalmology surgical equipment for the Hospital Infantil de las Californias so we can help children see. Join Grand Marshall and cycling enthusiast, Andrew Erickson (U.S. Consul General serving Tijuana) on a ride that begins and ends in south San Diego county. Cyclists start in Otay Mesa and ride north towards Hwy 125 with it's wide bike lane, spectacular long bridge and beautiful views of the Eastlake area, pass the Olympic Training Center and cruise by the scenic Otay Lakes.
The first $25,000 we raise will be generously matched dollar for dollar by our "Yellow Jersey" Title Sponsor,
Private Asset Management.

Looking For Physically Fit Men And Women, Ages 18-45, For Research Study
We are developing a new test for human hydration status and are looking for fit volunteers. Men must have VO2 max of at least 45 mL/kg/min, and women must reach at least 40 mL/kg/min to participate in the study.
