Join the San Diego Bicycle Club for the annual “Light Up A Life” Holiday Toy Ride, benefiting families supported by The Salvation Army. This 40-mile round-trip ride starts at 0800 at UC Cyclery, located in La Jolla Village Square.
Schedule:
0815: Cyclists arrive at UC Cyclery
0830: Bike & Costume Contest
0845: Ride rolls out
Riders are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy or canned/boxed nonperishable food to deliver to The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, located at University Ave and 69th Street. Led by Santa Claus, the ride is holiday-paced (slow), and everyone is welcome! A support vehicle will be available to carry larger toys or food items if they’re too big to transport on your bike.
The Salvation Army is collecting toys for children of all ages (toys for older children are especially appreciated), as well as nonperishable food items. Decorate your bike in festive holiday style—prizes will be awarded before the ride for the best-decorated adult rider, junior rider, and tandem team!
Every year, The Salvation Army invites hundreds of San Diego families to choose from the toys collected at their holiday distribution center. Let’s make the holiday season brighter for those in need!
