SDBC Ride Leader Program
With the exception of the A group, all SDBC Saturday Rides have at least one official SDBC Ride Leader in charge of controlling the ride. Most Saturdays, especially on the Development Rides, there will be additional Leaders attending with one designated at the “whip” or sweeper in charge of keeping the group together. Typically riders should stay behind (or next to) the leader and in front of the whip/sweeper. The Ride Leaders are experienced cyclists with a variety of different backgrounds, dedicated to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. In the short briefing before rolling out, the Leader-in-charge will introduce the other cyclists who are official Ride Leaders.

Interested in becoming an SDBC Ride Leader?
From time to time we need to add additional Ride Leaders to fill out our roster. Candidates must be SDBC members, known to several of our existing Ride Leaders, and should be demonstrating leadership qualities during rides. A Ride Leader puts his or her personal ambitions on the back burner when leading or assisting a ride.
