Jordan Becker
Jordan Becker
An SDBC Ride Leader since 2021, Jordan has progressed from leading D-3 rides to becoming a versatile leader across all levels (D-3 through C-Ride). A New York native who moved to San Diego in 2000, he discovered road cycling in 2016 and joined SDBC in 2018.
When not traveling, Jordan rides at least 3 times weekly and enjoys all club rides, bringing enthusiasm and experience to every group he leads.
Cris Fairweather
Cris Fairweather
After discovering cycling in 2017, Cris became a D-1 Ride Leader in 2019 and now leads across multiple levels (D-2 through C-Ride, his favorite). His endurance shines through achievements like SDBC's 24-hour Fiesta Island fundraiser (220 miles!).
Beyond cycling, Cris is a multi-talented creator who designed recent SDBC kits and produced the club's aerial ride videos (check the Saturday Rides page). When not on the bike, you'll find him running, hiking with his husky, programming, or gaming.
David Gomaidy
David Gomaidy
A dedicated D-2 Ride Leader since 2018 (and honored as 2019 Ride Leader of the Year), David now directs SDBC's Men's Cat 4-5 and Masters teams while representing all men's teams on the Board of Directors. With over a decade of club experience, he's our versatile go-to leader, comfortably guiding any ride from B-Ride to special events.
The Singapore-born, SDSU-educated cyclist thrives in competition (criteriums, road races, TTs) and offseason challenges (gran fondos, gravel/mountain events). His passion for cycling matches his commitment to developing SDBC's riders at all levels.
Vali Holroyd
Vali Holroyd
Vali is one of our newer Ride Leaders having joined the Club after arriving in San Diego in June 2019. Her focus is leading or assisting D-3. She has years of experience as a Ride Leader and Clothing Director for other clubs. When riding for herself, she likes the D-2 route.
Vali has been riding bikes since 1973, raced triathlons for 11 years, and loves nothing more than to mentor and encourage women of all ages to ride bikes. She enjoys hiking, tennis, travel, HIT, and Kayaking. Vali took on the SDBC Clothing Director position shortly after joining the Club. Vali stepped up to take the reins as SDBC President for 2022 in addition to being Clothing Director. It was no surprise when Vali was named Cyclist of the Year for 2021.
Serge Issakov
Serge Issakov
A D-1 Ride Leader since 2011, Serge has been a consistent presence on SDBC rides while championing cycling safety and education. His advocacy extends far beyond the club—serving on SDBC’s Board of Directors since 2005, the California Association of Bicycling Organizations (as Secretary and Caltrans Rep), and San Diego’s Mobility Board.
The 2019 SDBC Cyclist of the Year still finds his greatest joy sharing the saddle, whether leading rides or piloting his 1985 tandem with his daughter through city streets.
Pete Kane
Pete Kane
A road cyclist since 2000 (after years of mountain biking "he won't quantify"), Pete has been a dedicated leader of SDBC's D-1 and D-2 rides for decades - both his favorite routes to ride and lead. The 2021 Teammate of the Year combines a steadfast commitment to group safety with an infectious sense of humor.
Beyond cycling, the Army veteran enjoys gardening through a photographer's lens and spoiling his grandkids. His service in Vietnam remains a point of quiet pride, just like his contributions to SDBC.
Michael Karres
Michael Karres
A versatile leader across all upper-level rides (D-2 through B-Ride), Michael officially joined SDBC's Ride Leader team in 2018 after years of unofficial mentoring. His deep knowledge of group dynamics and routes makes him invaluable to riders progressing through the ranks.
Since 2022, Michael has brought that same dedication to shaping the club's voice as editor and producer of SDBC's Weekly Update, ensuring members stay connected and informed.
Michael currently serves on our Board of Directors as Treasurer.
Ed Leonard
Ed Leonard
Ed joined SDBC in 2006 as he transitioned from running to cycling. He became a Ride Leader in 2016 after regularly helping with the D-1 and B Rides. He typically assists the C Ride, leads D-1 when needed, and likes to join the B Ride when off duty. Ed served as Club Secretary for three years. Ed likes to travel and enjoys his day job helping seniors obtain the right Medicare coverage.
Tony Lowery
Tony Lowery
Tony leads or assists D-2 which is his favorite SDBC ride, and will occasionally jump in with the B-Ride. Tony has extensive riding experience, having ridden across the USA twice and owning/operating a local bicycle touring company. Recently, Tony rode from the Gulf Coast to New York following the route of the Underground Railroad.
He enjoys exploring and discovery which makes for an easy transition to creating and modifying routes as the Club's Special Events Ride Coordinator. Among his creations is one that goes around Mission Valley and up all the hills to simulate SDBC’s Borrego Springs Ride and campout. He also organized the Club's tandem ride in the past. Nothing makes him happier than when others have a fun, safe ride.
Christopher Luick
Christopher Luick
Chris’ claim to fame is that he has (officially) won as many Tours de France as Lance Armstrong. A proud ambassador of Belgian cycling culture (complete with Lion of Flanders on his bike), Chris brings Spring Classics energy to SDBC’s C-Ride, which he molds into a tight-knit, fast-yet-safe experience.
Recruited as a Ride Leader in 2018 after consistently demonstrating natural leadership, he earned 2021 Ride Leader of the Year honors – and maintains his perfect tie with Lance Armstrong’s Tour de France win count.
Mike McLaughlin
Mike McLaughlin
An SDBC Ride Leader since 2008, Mike has shaped the club at every level. His SDBC resume includes:
- Guiding Development Rides (now primarily D-3/D-4)
- Training Director (2010-2018)
- President (2018-2022)
- Treasurer
- Secretary
- Currently Special Events Director
- SDBC Lifetime Member
The 2010 Cyclist of the Year still leads by example, sharing his passion for epic climbing routes with fellow members, proving that true leadership stays in the saddle.
Michael Pelkey
Michael Pelkey
A Ride Leader of the Year (2013) with extensive experience across all Development Rides (D-4 through D-1), Michael now focuses on D-1/D-2 leadership—including his signature alternate D-2 route, which he introduced in 2021. Formerly the architect of SDBC’s Sunday Ride (2013-2015), he continues shaping the club’s future as Equipment Director.
Off-duty, this gravel-and-climbing enthusiast scouts new challenges, proving that fresh routes keep the cycling spirit alive at every level.
Cory Sakaguchi
Cory Sakaguchi
After years as a dedicated D-4 rider, Cory answered the call to become an official Ride Leader—and has since become the steady backbone of the group. While he’s a fixture on weekly D-4 rides, Cory truly shines as SDBC’s go-to sweep for holiday and special events, where his keen eye ensures no rider gets left behind.
Charlie Sykes
Charlie Sykes
A cycling enthusiast since his teens, Charlie’s SDBC journey began in 2005 when his son raced with the Juniors Team — leading him to become Juniors Team Director (2006-2009) and later a Ride Leader focused on nurturing newer riders (D-3/D-4). The self-described “Clydesdale” even challenges himself on D-2 rides, proving hills are for every body type.
As Training Director since 2018 (and former Secretary), he’s the Saturday voice coordinating rides and leaders—unless he’s traveling, which is the only thing that keeps him off the mic. His 2016 Ride Leader of the Year honor reflects decades of dedication.
Barb Trenchi
Barb Trenchi
A Ride Leader since 2009 (and former Everett Bike Club leader), Barb brings 25+ years of cycling expertise to SDBC—including seven Seattle-to-Portland rides. Certified as a Cycling Instructor by the San Diego Bicycle Coalition, she champions safety through youth rodeos and patient D-4 leadership.
When not guiding riders, she’s likely cruising the Bayshore Bikeway, sailing with Coronado Yacht Club, or carving Big Bear slopes. Even her 2007 stint as Weekly Update Editor reflected her commitment to the cycling community.
Linda Webb
Linda Webb
A D-3 Ride Leader who thrives on building riders’ confidence, Linda’s cycling story began in childhood—inspired by Tour de France viewings with her dad, organizing neighborhood races, and exploring San Diego County by bike. With 40 years of bike commuting and current 200-mile weeks, she’s a true life-long cyclist.
Her SDBC legacy includes:
- Board service as Volunteer Coordinator
- Race registration leadership
- San Diego County Bicycle Coalition board role
- 2007 Cyclist of the Year
- 2012 Ride Leader of the Year
- SDBC Lifetime Member
Off the bike, Linda transforms glass into art with flame—proving her creativity burns as bright as her cycling passion.
