August Riders of the Month: Alarcon Sisters
1. What is your age/grade/school?
Alexa: My grade school is 12 grade or senior year, and I am 16 years old.
Salma: I am 19 years old, I am about to start my second year at Southwestern College and my major is Molecular Biology.
Edely: College student at Southwestern
2. Which SDBC team are you on?
Alexa: SDBC junior team and Cat 3 women’s team
Salma: I am on the women’s team and a cat 4.
Edely: SDBC Juniors Team (And Women’s Cat 4)
3. What’s your go-to song to pump you up before a race?
Alexa: Nice for what by Drake
Salma: The song that pumps me up before a race is the one called “Girls Like You” by Maroon 5
Edely: Stole the Show by Kygo
4. Do you have any goofy rituals you do before/during/after riding?
Alexa: I just like to listen to music while riding.
Salma: I listen to music while riding, it’s not really goofy but that is the only thing I do other than enjoying my ride.
Edely: I don’t have any goofy rituals before or after riding, I just like to listen to music while riding.
5. What’s your favorite meal to eat after a long ride?
Alexa: I really like eating pizza.
Salma: My favorite meal to eat after a long ride is tacos for sure.
Edely: My favorite meal I like to eat after a long ride is pizza.
6. What’s your favorite race and why?
Alexa: My favorite race is Valley of the Sun because it is exciting having to race for three days in a row and I love the second stage which is road, the course is awesome.
Salma: My favorite race is Ontario Grand Prix, because it is really fast and I think it is a really cool circuit.
Edely: My favorite race is Barrio Logan because I love the course so much and it is fun to race
and have fun at the same time.
7. How did you find out about SDBC?
Alexa: I found out about SDBC when I attended the Thursday night training at the San Diego Velodrome.
Salma: I found out about SDBC because I was a San Diego Velodrome Junior member and the coach told us about the team, and almost all the juniors there are on the team.
Edely: I found out about SDBC when I started going to the velodrome every Thursday to train
and almost every junior was on SDBC.
8. Anything else you would like to share?
Alexa: Nothing else.
Salma: I honestly have had a wonderful time racing with my teammates on SDBC, they are all really awesome and the best thing is that the team really supports juniors which is amazing. I am really glad to be a part of it even though I am not a junior any more.
Edely: I love being part of the SDBC team!
