SDBC Website Refresh
A Fresh Look and Improved Experience!
On iPhone
At the San Diego Bicycle Club (SDBC), we’re always striving to create the best possible experience for our members and visitors. Over the past weeks, we’ve made some exciting updates to our website, aiming to improve navigation, content clarity, and overall performance. Here’s a rundown of the recent changes, all designed with cyclists in mind!
A Fresh, Modern Look
One of the most noticeable changes is the update to our site’s design. We’ve updated the color scheme to incorporate the darker teal and orange on our new kits, offering a more modern and vibrant aesthetic. These colors are not only visually appealing but also more in line with the energy and spirit of cycling!
Streamlined Content and Improved Clarity
We’ve gone through every page of the site to ensure the content is clear, concise, and engaging. Many of our pages have been refined for brevity and uniformity, so you can quickly find the information you need without sifting through unnecessary text. Additionally, we've added taglines to each page to help guide visitors and set the tone for what they’ll find.
Mobile-Friendly Enhancements
A big focus of our recent updates was making the site more mobile-friendly. We’ve made several changes to improve how our content displays on mobile devices. This includes a complete overhaul of the CSS for various custom pages (like Awards, BOD, FITT Records) and updating the table layouts to ensure a better mobile experience. The days of scrolling horizontally on your phone are over!
Performance Boosts for a Smoother Experience
Speed and efficiency are key for a seamless browsing experience. We’ve optimized many images across the site to be smaller and compressed, which reduces load times and improves the user experience. In addition, we’ve done a deep dive into Cloudflare’s features, adjusting caching settings and performance tweaks to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Enhanced SEO and Content Visibility
You might not always see it, but we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes to improve the website’s SEO. We’ve optimized alt text for images, revamped page descriptions, and added custom JS workarounds. All these improvements will help more people find the site through search engines, making it easier for new members and cycling enthusiasts to discover SDBC.
Improved CSS for MembershipWorks Integration
As part of our ongoing improvements, we've made significant updates to the CSS to ensure a seamless integration with MembershipWorks, our membership management platform. These changes include custom styling adjustments to ensure the MembershipWorks interface blends perfectly with the rest of the site. From refining the layout and design of membership pages to ensuring smooth functionality across different devices, the updated CSS provides a consistent and user-friendly experience for both new and returning members. These tweaks help create a more cohesive and visually appealing membership experience, making it easier for cyclists to sign up, manage their accounts, and stay connected with the club.
Accessibility Upgrades
We’re committed to making the site accessible to everyone. Recent accessibility improvements include better contrast in the color scheme and adjustments to fonts, padding, and background colors. These changes make the site easier to read for people with visual impairments, and we’ll continue to look for opportunities to improve in this area.
New Features to Keep You Informed
We’ve added a brand-new FAQ section to the Saturday page, answering common questions and providing clarity around key topics. Look for more FAQ sections coming soon on the FITT and Clothing pages soon!
Membership and Ride Pages Get a Facelift
Our membership and ride pages have received a major overhaul to improve functionality and ease of use. From updated CSS to tweaks in the HTML blocks, these changes make browsing these essential pages smoother and more intuitive. We want every member to feel at home when they visit!
A Look at What's Next
We’re always looking ahead, and we’re considering the next big step for the site— upgrading to SS 7.1. While it’s still under review, we’re weighing whether the potential improvements are worth the investment. Stay tuned for more updates!
In Conclusion
The recent updates to the SDBC website represent our commitment to providing a user-friendly, mobile-optimized, and visually appealing experience for all cyclists. Whether you’re checking out upcoming rides, browsing through the latest results, or simply learning more about our club, we hope these changes make your visit even better.
Keep an eye out for even more improvements, and let us know what you think about the updates! Your feedback helps us continue to grow and improve. Happy cycling!
“Enjoy the refreshed experience—our goal is to make your time on the site as smooth and enjoyable as your ride!”
